June Rose Show

The Gardener’s  June Rose Show was held at  Bolingbroke Mansion on June 12, 2012. The arrangement classes were titled “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” (a design incorporating a place setting and identifying the person invited) and “A Culinary Caper” (a design using flowers, fruits and/or vegetables). Wyn Coghlan gets special mention, winning a first place in both classes, and a best in show!

After such a warm winter – everything blooming ahead of schedule –  we feared that the cut-rose specimens would be poor. So we were especially pleased that, after several years of not awarding the Rose Bowl for a hybrid tea rose, this year Alice Amsterdam entered a beautiful specimen and was awarded the bowl!  The many other cut branch and plant specimens, and the potted plant entries, were wonderful as usual.

The June Annual Meeting also saw our “Silver Awards” (engraved bowls, cups, and plates) given to the ladies with the most accumulated points,  showing in our club shows and/or in outside competitions; and also club awards for special service. Please see the June minutes for a list of those awards and other Annual Reports.
