Pruning Workshop

Today, Tuesday, March 8, 2022 was cold and windy, but that didn’t stop a mighty group of our gardeners from enjoying the pruning workshop at Stoneleigh in Villanova.

A big thanks goes to Sandy Beale our civic engagement chair who organized this workshop with Sam Nestory of Stoneleigh.  You can see from the pictures below we were on our hands and knees getting down and dirty pruning in this lovely garden.  Some examples of what we learned was how to prune hydrangeas; the importance of paying attention to the “collar” of a branch; how to hold the pruning tool and much more.  Sam Nestory is a wonderful teacher.  She speaks in a manner we can understand and answers questions completely.

Below are photos from the workshop.  You will recognize some of the faces:  Sam Nestory, Sandy Beale, Bonnie Buchak, Michele Spence, Wyn Coghlan, Yvonne Bartmen, Sarah Collier, Margie Stevens, Sally Bauer (our new member), Judy Shekmar, Presley Schwinn.
