The Gardeners Have a Weed Wrangle

Our Weed Wrangle at Stoneleigh

On Tuesday, November 2, The Gardeners gathered for a Weed Wrangle for their last workday at Stoneleigh. We’ll be back as a group in April 2022. It was damp and overcast, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying being together.

We mostly worked on the long median garden in the parking lot that collects a lot of the rain water runoff. We used our hori hori garden knives, Japanese weeding sickles; and other hand weeders to help attack the unwanted growth. What a pleasure to dig in the soil at Stoneleigh. It lifts your spirits and helps your mood.

Please see the photos of our women in their overalls, work boots and the like. My one photo of a yellow jacket queen looking for a home for the winter may not be clear, but it was interesting to uncover her.

Below is  Sandy Beale, Michele Spence, Lyn Marinchak, Bonnie Bouchak, Judi Garst, and Presley Schwinn. There is a photo of Sandy Beale, our chair, and Sam Nestory, Stoneleigh’s Director of Horticulture.

We also ran into a couple of other members who were gathering for a meeting. Two that I grabbed for a photo are Peggy Shaver with Jane Moore under her colorful umbrella.
