The Gardener’s Annual Fundraising Party was Friday night, October 5, and a fun time was had by all. Sandra and Keith Hudson hosted about 65 Gardeners and spouses. After coming up a walkway lined with lanterns, we were greeted with a lovely Pimms cup punch-bowl in the foyer. Sandra arranged for many special touches: a beautiful setting, a melodious piano player, car valet and lovely weather.

Michael Bowell of “Create a Scene” in Malvern, PA, was the speaker for our first meeting of the year at Jenkins Arboretum on September 11, 2012.

June Rose Show

The Gardener’s  June Rose Show was held at  Bolingbroke Mansion on June 12, 2012. The arrangement classes were titled “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” (a design incorporating a place setting and identifying the person invited) and “A Culinary Caper” (a design using flowers, fruits and/or vegetables). Wyn Coghlan gets special mention, winning a first place in both classes, and a best in show!

The Gardeners on “Grass Patrol” at Concourse Lake on May 12:

On Saturday May 12, four Gardeners did yeoman’s labor at Concourse Lake! Our club was given the job of making-perfect the newly-established tree and schrub beds at the 50th Street entrance to the lake, and it was acknowledged that we had the weediest beds of all!!  Sarah Collier brought out her pitch fork, Wyn Coghlan had her trowel in the dirt (and presciently brought Gatorade), Connie Stelzenmuller manned her spade, Betsy Crowell had broom and garbage sacks, and we all ...

The Gardeners Share their Knowledge

Sandra Hudson gave a flower demonstration to The Garden Workers Garden Club assisted by Anne Barnett. The theme was “Shop your closets, using everyday items for flower Arrangements and making arranging fun.

She did arrangements using containers such as soup tureens, soup bowls, egg cups, soup cans, baskets, a Clementine wooden box and an antique wooden box secretary. There was an assortment of flowers from a wholesaler, from her garden and small plants such as prim-roses, mini ferns and mini violets.
